Sensors may be a reason why the door will not close
Unfortunately, there are times when your garage door will not cooperate with you. It comes at the worst time too. Sometimes it’s just the sensors – Does the door come down half way or almost all the way down and then goes right back up?
Here are some reasons this may be happening
· Dust on the lens, over time dust gets into the lens and builds up. Creating a barrier and making it not able to transmit to the other sensors.
· Maybe someone bumped it and they are misaligned.
· It could be a broom that is directly behind it or many things that are behind it.
· The wires behind the sensors could be chewed through or coming off the sensor.
How to solve it?
· If there is a lot of dust in the lens, try wiping the dust off
· Try adjusting the sensor until they are aligned and are seeing each other. Sometimes when they are misaligned one of the sensors will start blinking, try realigning it until the blinking stops.
· If there are many things behind the sensors or around it. Try moving those things. The manufacture of the openers usually asks to have it cleared 3ft back of the sensors.
· Check the back of the sensors to see if the wires are loose or have come off. You will need to have the sensors rewired if they are torn or loose.
If you are unable to get the opener to shut the door even after doing these steps. What you can do is hold the wall button until the garage door shuts completely OR pull the release cord on the opener and manually shut the door. Call Berry Garage Door to repair on your garage door to find the root of the problem. It can be that the motor needs an adjustment or a problem with the garage door.
